Common Sense Food Safety Tips

1. Wash your hands the right way – in hot running water with soap for at least 20 seconds. Scrub away any dirt underneath fingernails or between your fingers. Rinse thoroughly and dry hands with paper towels. Reusable towels can become a breeding ground for bacteria.

2. Coughing and sneezing happen. When you’re cooking, coughing or sneezing into your elbow is the best way to prevent spreading germs. If you do cover your mouth or nose with your hand, see tip 1.

3. Wash hands, surfaces and utensils thoroughly after handling raw fish, meat and poultry.
