Onion Dip and I are in a long term relationship. Not kidding. I’ve been hooked since I was a kid begging for those onion soup mix packets and sour cream like some kid of pint-sized snack food junkie. Hello. I’m Danielle and I’m an onion-dip-a-holic. Don’t get me wrong, I love onions in ALL forms. Receipts here and here, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a salad recipe of one that does not include some form of sliced, diced or minced onion. But there’s something about a pile of onion dip testing the weight limit of a ridged potato chip that makes me smile inside and out.
Creamy Onion Dip From Scratch
This dip is the gold standard in my kitchen. It’s expected at every dip-worthy occasion. No matter how fancy, the dip must be served. Holidays, birthdays, whatever. The dip must be served. Time to watch Scandal/Underground/Real HousewivesofEverywhere (except New Jersey, Atlanta and Miami) I guess everywhere doesn’t apply, but you get the picture. We eat this dip A LOT. I wiped out a batch almost on my own on Election Night while I waited for the world to end election results.
You need this dip in your life. It is the onioniest (not a real word) of onion dips. Seriously, there are three different onion variations in this one – minced red onion, chopped green onion and onion powder. All the onions. All the time. Onions for dayyyyssss. Grab a bowl and stir this baby up in minutes – or as fast as you can mince the red onion and chop the green ones.
WARNING: This dip is peak ONION. (See THREE onion variations mention above.) Everyone you come in contact with after eating this will be painfully aware of your affinity for onion dip. Share it so you and your friends/family/BAE can weather the onion storm together.

TIPS:
Be sure to mince your red onion well. Love the flavor but no one wants to bite into a hunk.
You can swap whole fat versions of sour cream and mayo for light or reduced fat versions for a lighter dip.
