- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- teaspoon ground cinnamon
- teaspoon ground allspice
- teaspoon ground cardamom
- teaspoon ground ginger
- teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Stir flour, spices and salt together in a medium bowl until well-mixed.
- Mix butter and sugar together in a medium bowl. Gradually add dry ingredients, mixing until evenly mixed. Press dough into an 8-inch square pan lined with parchment paper, using a spatula or clean fingers to spread it evenly. Use the tip of a knife to gently score the dough into 16 pieces.
- Bake until shortbread is firm and lightly brown around the edges, about 20 minutes. Cool, then cut or break the shortbread into 16 pieces.
