To bake a potato, scrub the skin clean under running water. Pat them dry then pierce the skin with the tines of a fork, to allow air to escape. Rub or brush the potatoes lightly with oil and sprinkle with coarse kosher salt. Place the potatoes on a baking sheet and cook them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about an hour, until you can slide a fork into the potato with little resistance.
Once cooked, slice the top off the potatoes and serve. You can add items like sour cream, cheese, crumbled bacon or chopped, cooked veggies for added flavor.
